Refill Methods
|
 |
Laser cartridges may vary in size, shape and trim color
but in the most important way they all work the same. They are fed and fueled by “laser toner”. No laser toner means no printing … no text … no pictures … no images. The cartridge cannot work without “toner”. It’s the fuel that makes the cartridge work.
|
 |
Four General Methods:
For Refilling Toner
Cartridges
|
|
 |
Unplug and Fill
-
(Simplest method) Remove the toner hopper plug and
slowly refill with laser toner. Replace the plug and you
are ready to go. This type of cartridge includes a
number of Epson, Samsung, Sharp, Tektronix and Xerox
laser models.

Unscrew, Unplug, and Fill
This
method requires you to remove some screws that release a
panel on the end of the cartridge. Now pour in your
laser toner. Replace plug, panel and screws. The
Minolta QMS 2200 and 2300 fall into this refill style.
In these specific models certain reset procedures must
also be followed as outlined in our instructions packet
but it’s nothing you can‘t handle. In some models this
method can get more technical but it is always doable.

Often the hopper plug is
damaged when it is removed. We include
replacement refill caps at no extra charge with every
order of toner where the caps are needed.
Melt and Pour
- This method of
refilling does not disturb the inner workings of your
cartridge and is the most
reliable method there is to refill a cartridge.
It is completely superficial. Contrary to what cartridge
remanufactures lead you to believe you can melt a hole
into an empty (key word) laser cartridge without any
complications.
|
|
 |
Using the melting tool, which is included in your
Starter Kit a carefully placed hole is melt in the wall
of the cartridge. The location of the hole varies with
the type and model of the cartridge. Included in your
Starter Kit is a heat resistant adhesive patch that is
used to cover the hole. Most Hewlett Packard black
printer cartridges are best tackled with this method, as
well as the very popular Canon E30 copier. Our melting
hole tool can be purchased separately or as part of your
Starter Kit. It can be used over and over again.
|
|
 |
Open, Unplug, and Pour
- In
these cartridges you cannot get to the plug without
doing some disassembling. For example in the HP
LaserJet 2 four plastic casing pins must be removed
before you can get to your plug. Once you reach the
plug simply remove it and slowly pour in your toner.
Then put it back together the same way you took it apart
and your ready to print. Tip … use a threading tool to
remove the casing pins. It’s not hard. |
|
 |
Like most
mechanical things made these days there are always some
unique styles of cartridges that do not fall into the
categories described above … but they too are workable. |
